The U.S. Department of Labor brought back its Payroll Audit Independent Determination (PAID) program which was started in 2018 and discontinued in 2021.

The voluntary program lets employers conduct self-audits to find violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act (minimum wage and overtime) and the Family and Medical Leave Act. Employers report the problems to DOL and then resolve them (e.g., back wages) and avoid litigation.
