What to do When an Employee Always Shows up Late

Employee lateness is a widespread problem that managers and business owners often have to deal with.

Here are some ways to deal with employee tardiness:

1. Use a time clock

2. Schedule a staff meeting first thing in the day

3. Be clear and consistent about the rules

4. Require phone calls

5. Institute penalties for being late to work

6. Make punctuality part of the employee performance review and compensation

7. Create a reward program for punctual employees

8. Talk directly to the chronically late employee
